MOTOR VEHICLE

New Florida residents must register their vehicles in Fla within 10 days of gaining employment or enrolling children in school. To register a vehicle, you will need to provide the county tax collector with a current driver's license, proof of Florida auto insurance, a prior registration certificate and the car's title. The VIN number will be verified and you will need to apply for a Florida license plate. (You'll be amazed by the selection of plates.)

The weight of the vehicle determines the fee. You will also need to apply for a Florida Title Certificate.

You can get more information on this from the Sarasota County Tax Collector at 362-9888. Manatee County 741-4800 or from the FL DMV

New residents must get a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting employment, entering children in public school, registering to vote, or filing for homestead exemption. It costs $20 for a first time Florida Driver's License. Getting one is very quick if you have a valid license from another state. You'll only need to take a vision test. Call in Sarasota County 361-6217 for more info, or in Manatee County, 741-3010.
